Top 10 Supercomputers in the World

Supercomputers are defined to be the fastest line of computers. Contrary to mainframes and microcomputers, supercomputers are dedicated to execute only a few programs simultaneously. This is to avoid compromising the speed needed for tasks requiring a lot of processing speed. Among the functions of supercomputers are weather forecasting, high-end graphic animations, dynamic calculations, nuclear power researches, and fuel exploration.

The speed of supercomputers is measured in FLOPS (Floating Point Operations Per Second). Before, supercomputers are stuck to what is called “Petaflop Barrier” or A thousand teraflops. However, in June 2008, the “Petaflop Barrier” has been shredded by IBM’s Roadrunner installed at DOE’s Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Today, there exists two supercomputers breaking the petaflop barrier.

Holding on to the No. 1 spot as the world fastest computer running in 1105.00 Teraflops is IBM’s Roadrunner found in Los Alamos National Laboratory, USA. Second place is the second teraflop barrier-breaker with a speed of 1059.00 Teraflops is Cray XT5 of Cray Research at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, USA. Third spot is running in 825.50 Teraflops called JUGENE of IBM located at Jülich Research Centre, Germany. Fourth place is Pleiades of SGI based in NASA/Ames Research Center, USA with a speed of 487.01 Teraflops. Fifth post is Blue Gene/L by IBM installed at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA running in 478.20 Teraflops. Sixth placer is called Kraken by Cray Research found in National Institute for Computational Sciences, USA with a speed of 463.30 Teraflops. Seventh place holder is IBM’s Intrepid running on 458.61 Teraflops at Argonne National Laboratory, USA. In eighth position is called Ranger by Sun Microsystems located in Texas Advanced Computing Center, USA with a speed of 433.20 Teraflops. IBM’s Dawn is in ninth place with its 415.70 Teraflops speed installed in Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, USA. The top 10 supercomputer as of ISC09 conference on June 23, 2009 at Hamburg, Germany is called JUROPA by Groupe Bull located in Jülich Research Centre, Germany.

What’s the Right Desktop For You?

With so many desktop computers today, how do you know which is the right one for you? Choosing a desktop can be dizzying with the choices available. The different specs of each of these can give you a hard time deciding. With the advancement of computers today, a particular desktop might be outdated very quickly so you really need to determine the best features out of the options available.

What you need to do first is to decide what you need the computer for. It includes what you’re going to do with your desktop, whether you do games, watch movies, and so forth. To be safe, you should consider the desktops in mid-ranges when it comes to their specifications. You only need the powerful ones if you intend to use software that requires heavy specifications. You can perform a search first in the internet if you still don’t know what you want, there is a lot of information you can find there using the search engines we have. The common things you need to consider aside from the hardware and the specification of a certain desktop are the things like warranty, technical support, upgrades, and the quality of each component. A quality part such as the keyboard and mouse can make you comfortable even if you work for hours, so make sure you have those quality ones.

You also need to consider all the “extras”: examples are the DVD burner, more USB ports, and a webcam although they are not that necessary for your desktop, theycan still give easiness and enjoyment while you do your work. If you’re willing to pay extra amount then why not include them.

Before making a decision, list the entire brand you want for the components of your desktop and compare prices and quality with what’s available in the market. Do these and you will get the best value out of your budget, as well as a desktop just right for you which will give you comforts while working.

The Fastest Best-Selling Desktop Computer Processor Ever

This is really a jaw-dropping speed processor a computer can ever have. I am talking about the AMD’s Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-64. It belongs to the AMD’s X2 multi-core processor family with an awesome CPU speed of 2.16 GHz. It is equipped with the 65nm AMD’s manufacturing technology but with a smaller wattage rate of 35 watts. It is definitely the fastest computer processor these days.

Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-64 has two separate CPU cores on a single die. Each core is running on 2.16 GHz speed. The standard multiplier for determining the overall speed of a processor is 1.8. So when two cores are running together, Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-64 can have an astounding speed of 1.8 X 2.16 = 3.88 GHz. You could barely feel any buffering or lagging even when you are running on different high-end multi-thread software applications all at the same time.

Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-64 processor bus speed can also reach around 3600 MHz. Of course, the motherboard controls the bus speed so it must meet with the CPU’s bus speed for optimum performance. Bus speed is the rate at which computer processor can transfer or process information (with different computer parts like motherboard and RAM) per second. Typical bus speed for motherboard would be 4000 MHz and RAM capacity of 4 GB.

Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-64 has a shared L2 cache memory of 1000 KB (1 BM). The CPU static L1 cache can store information at 128 KB. When this L1 cache is consumed upon computer operation, L2 cache can store up to 1000 KB of data for processing and file swapping. With Athlon X2 Dual-Core QL-64 wattage rate of 35 watts, it reduces the chance of having processor overheat. It also consumes power at a lesser rate almost half of common Intel multi-core processors.

How to Troubleshoot a Printer

A printer is a peripheral that converts a soft copy document into a hard copy document. This device is very much helpful for reports and the like since this would produce a tangible document that can be viewed even without a computer. But what is the use of a printer when it is not working? Here are some basic steps on how to troubleshoot a printer.

First, the printer should be plugged on to a power supply. Check the power ratings before plugging it into a power supply source. The power ratings are usually seen at the back or bottom of the printer. (Caution: Don’t plug the cord when the maximum power rating is less than the power supply source. Example: Plugging a 110V printer to a 220 power supply will damage the printer). After inserting the cord in the power supply source, check the power indicator if it lights. If not, press the on button. This should make the printer power up. If this does not help, contact the manufacturer regarding this issue.

If the printer does not print the document, first, check the printer if it is the default printer. This can be checked by going to the control panel and open printers and faxes (for XP). The default printer is the checked printer (sometimes labeled as the default printer). If the printer being used is not the default printer, right click the printer that is being used and select “set as default”. If the printer is not included in printers and faxes folder, the printer needs to be installed which is described on the printer’s manufacturing handout. Find the installation process and follow it step by step.

If all of these do not solve the issue, refer to the printer’s handbook for more tips on troubleshooting the printer.

Free Your Head from Headaches: Perform Computer Maintenance

Computer equipment maintenance is very necessary to have your computer equipment work efficiently, have it run smoothly. There are a several ways of doing computer maintenance but there are some other ways that are missed. Here is the complete checklist to make the computer maintenance at its fullest.

The things that should be kept in mind are tasks that include backing up, setting up firewalls, keeping computer healthy, resolving power issues, putting a stop to spying, and keeping away from trouble.

Backing Up: Any document that you create on an external drive should be kept safe with backups using other external drives such as USB. However, you should also provide backup for important data or any files saved in your computer hard disk. In case you have to reinstall, also keep backups on computer programs to avoid downloading these programs again and waste a lot of your time. The frequency of providing backups depends on how often you make changes to your documents. Software drivers and operating system disks should be kept in safe place that is moisture-free and easily accessed.

Setting Up Firewalls:

Firewalls are responsible in keeping your computer away from programs that would enable others to access your computer. Hence, it is termed as the “locked gate” for computer hard drive. This can be set up with the use of internet security software such as Norton and others.

Keeping Your Computer Healthy: The best way of keeping your computer healthy is to install a good antivirus software. Often, aside from firewall, this also comes with when availing Internet Security software. The antivirus program scans the files stored in your hard disk and even other external disks and email to detect if they are infected with viruses or worms. This way, you can decide whether to open the file or email message or not because it will give you an alert message and sound. Of course, only nuts would open a virus-infected files or email messages. Update your computer regularly by activating the virus scanning. You can actually set the scanning automatically by setting Automatic Updates.

Power Issues: Electrical surges can damage your computer so it is always recommended to use an excellent power surge protector. In buying one, you should me cautious of surge protectors with MOV or metal oxide varistor because it damages any time. It might be cheap but you put your entire home in risk of fire.

Putting a Stop to Spying: Spyware programs are recommended to have installed in your computer to avoid other parties who are remotely monitoring your computer secretly. Spywares can be downloaded from different online sources; however, choose only the ones that are recommended by computer experts. If you don’t know one, you may try asking the good guys in computer equipment rental shops in your area.

Keeping Away from Trouble: You should also be cautious enough when downloading any data forms. Some have viruses, spywares and Trojan worms in them. Downloadable files from unconfirmed sources are potentially damaging so better keep away from them.

Computer Maintenance can be Fun

We usually think of computer equipment maintenance as another burden or an addition to our household chores. Like any other household chores, computer maintenance is also a requirement to keep it running smoothly and prevent computer problems that may arise any time. However, this kind of mentally can be changed if you know enough about how computer works.

The computer equipment maintenance can be done in a lot more different ways. You can have automatic updates, website updates, and with the use of utilities.

Automatic Updates: I don’t know if computer owners find it fun seeing their computer updating on its own. But generally, the task of setting up the computer updates such as anything that comprises the operating systems (like Microsoft Windows, Internet Security like firewall and antivirus software) is fun to watch. Your mind would think how fabulously technology works. It is a threat not to update the versions of your internet security software and antivirus. If your computer is often used for downloading data and many types of files, it is advisable to have it updated as often as possible.

Windows Update can be done periodically with Internet Explorer browser. It automatically detects latest versions of the currently installed components of Windows.

With Windows XP Home Edition, you can also automate the critical updates by setting it up in the Control Panel. Just go to System then click Automatic Updates so that you can modify the frequency and time of updating.

Website Updates: Automating the software updates can be done by checking the respective manufacturers’ site. Going to the Help menu of the software manufacturer is the easiest and most doable way of getting the things done. You will be directed to a page containing the instructions on how to set up the automation of the updating of software versions.

Using Utilities: It is crucially important to have your computer be updated of its components. This is to keep the bad guys away and those who use it. Some internet security software is composed of important tools such as firewall, antivirus, porn-blocker, spyware detector, pop-up blocker, and spam filter. This kind of utility is a great help to keep your computer free from computer viruses, spyware and other things that are potentially computer destroyer.

Of all kinds of computer maintenance performed for computer, defragmenting is not really necessary. The recent review from PC World (a computer magazine) declared that defragmenting does not improve computer performance anymore. Defragmenting is done to gather up the pieces of files and places them together in one adjacent location of the computer hard drive.

Reasons Why Renting is Good

Buying is always the best way of owning something. However, if you don’t have enough financial resources to buy relatively expensive item such as computer equipment or laptop, renting would best suit for you. Having a computer this way offers great benefits in which some of these benefits are unrealized.

There are several options to avail a computer equipment rental service. Such growing number of online PC rentals provides an opportunity for you as a client to have as many choices as you wish. This way, you have the freedom and control which among the online computer shops you would choose. Of course, you would choose a company that would serve you best for a worth-it price.

Computer equipment rental shops are getting popular not because they offer rental service or they sell computer equipment and peripherals. They are becoming popular because of other services that they offer. They also offer rental service on other items that are of in demand use such as household items like furniture, clothes washer and many others.

Recently, stores offer incentives to people who avail their electronic or computer equipment rental service. The more often you avail the service, the more credits you can have. Your credibility as a rental client is established well especially if you have good record in renting any item from a particular store.

Aside from the mentioned benefits, the payment schedule among computer equipment rental stores is usually flexible. Meaning, it would be the rental stores who adjust to their clients in terms of payment schedule. As a client, you can set payment plan that best suits for you. You can choose from monthly, weekly or every other week or month as payment schedules to make sure that even paying to the rental service that you avail won’t be a burden to you. Most of the online PC rentals that are able to establish credibility in this particular market industry offer money back guarantees and complete customer satisfying services. However, you should take note of how long does the offer would last in a specific rental option.

Other good thing that computer equipment rental shops offers is that they let you try the service for a particular period of time before having you decide to avail the service. Even on computer sales, they also allow the potential clients to try using the item you would be buying. This way, you can have the privilege to check if the item you would likely buy has all the necessary features you need or if it has defects which can either be minor or major. This would let you, as the customer, have the option for choosing other related item that best suits your needs and wants.

You will need not to spend time in internet café. Perhaps, you are spending time alone in hotel and with nothing but laptop; certainly, you can get through boring moments. Top 5 Qualities of a Good Computer Rental Hub

Since computer rental industry is also getting bigger, the number of online computer rental shops is also increasing. This event makes the searching of good shops to rent computer equipment is made difficult. If you are someone who ventures in computer rental or audio visual rental service providing, then you must know the top 5 qualities of a good computer rental hub in order to stand out from your competitors in the industry.

There are several computer rental shops but only few offers the services that customers are looking for. Quality service and complete inventory of stuff for sale and for renting are not enough; your establishment, the shop itself, should also have other features in order to attract more clients and make them return to re-avail the online computer rental services you offer.

Here are the top five qualities of a good computer shop:

(a) Fast computers: Clients nowadays are expecting too much especially on technology products like computers and audio visual stuff. Giving your client with computers that belong to decade old versions would certainly disappoint them. Of course, you will be receiving bad testimonials about your service. Fast computers are those that are of new models. New models of computers do not necessarily mean to be the latest release models; at least it should be a bit new. Computers this type runs and process tasks fast because of higher speed computer processor. In order to achieve higher computer speed, your computer RAM (Random Access Memory) must be higher.

(b) Fast access: Your computer equipment rental shop should also have fast internet connection. Most of your clients would and avail your service because of having this service feature. Checking your internet service provider for faster connection is needed. Of course, if you find that your ISP is not performing well, then it is better to look for another one—the one that can give faster connection speed that people need.

(c) WiFi: WiFi connection is almost omnipresent among publicly exposed establishments such as coffee shops, bookshops, hotels and restaurants. Adding WiFi features of your computer rental shop is a great advantage because it would mean additional income.

(d) Coffee and Food: Services like offering coffee and food to the clients is not just good for your income but also good for your clients. It is because, this service feature is one of the most in demand. It helps the client to feel relaxed. Of course, anyone likes a place where they can have their stomach get satiated with coffee and excellent food.

(e) Printing and Fax: Of course, your computer rental shop would not be complete without printers and faxes. Printing and faxing services, I would say, is essential to any business that offers computer equipment rentals. Most of the people who avail services like audio visual rental or online computer equipment rental services are office workers if not students who are always doing paper requirements. Taking advantage of this market would have you lead in the competition of getting the highest number of online computer rental clients.

Recycling Computer Equipment

The evolution of technology has banes and boons. Life became easier since the time when technology was invented. Its rapid development has even further enhanced the way of life in general. Doing more in less time and doing big or heavy things easily are achieved with the help of technology products. Comes with this is the harm that it gives to the environment and to the people in general.

Since technology is evolving fast, the things that it produces also quickly becoming obsolete. The need to replace them with newer versions that better serve the users’ needs is inevitable. If the obsolete models are replaced, what would happen to them? Are they just destined to the garbage pit under the earth? Unfortunately, the answer is YES, they are.

Computer equipments are highly toxic to the environment. According to the research that 75% of obsolete computer equipment products are being thrown into the garbage pit, and stored like a time bomb waiting to blow off the earth.

Computer parts such as cathode ray tubes, circuit boards and other related materials contain chromium, mercury, and lead. These elements are highly dangerous. If they are thrown in traditional ways such as dumping them in a garbage can to be thrown later in a dumping site or under few feet below the ground, they would be absorbed by the soil and underground water. Hence, majority of the community are relying merely on underground water, great health risk will be coming at hand. The landfill, where the technology product wastes are dumped, is the most hazardous place. The incineration of wastes would bring toxic elements into the air. Air and water pollution can kill not only the trees, water, air, land and all sorts of environmental components, but such pollutions can also kill the inhabitants of the earth, the humans.

That is the reason why we should not throw our electronic wastes. We can actually make money out of them. So, it is better to keep them; perhaps, you can utilize some of the computer parts for other technology equipment products. The good news is that there are organizations that buy electronic waste. The electronic wastes are recycled by these organizations for helpful purposes.

Recycling is the answer to prevent air, water and soil pollution. It helps the environment and the quality of life of human beings. This is the primary reasons why the recycling of obsolete computer equipment products is considered as great earth-saver. 5 Points to Understand about Audio Visual Technology

Audio visual technology products are making life easier in general. They make the business operations as easier like never before. They also help companies to cut cost and improve their productivity. Audio visual technology as a whole has improved the way everything is done. Communication for instance; it is made possible and cheaper regardless of distance.

There are five things that we should get acquainted with so that we can understand what audio visual technology is all about.

(a) Video Conferencing
(b) Digital Signage
(c) Costs
(d) AV Specialists
(e) Future

Video Conferencing: Among the technology products, video conferencing is one of the effective tools to cut company expenses while enhancing the productivity. Though video conferencing is not already new in the market, it is becoming more advanced and cheaper as time goes by. Face to face communication is very essential especially if the involved parties have to tackle very important matters. Entrepreneurs now are enabled to talk no matter where they are. Business meetings can be done without traveling because video conferencing enables the involved to talk face to face in real time, live via the internet. Internet knows no boundaries except distance that takes light years. With video conferencing, business partnership is strengthened because constant communication is made possible even if one of the business partners is assigned to the other end of the earth. Compared to telephone conferences, video conferencing enables the ability to make presentations.

Digital Signage: Digital signage is almost the same with video teleconferencing. However, unlike video conferencing, digital signage only offers one way communication between parties in real time and more on data updates and presentations. How does it work? For instance, a call center service provider may have a plasma screen where the data from other organizations are displayed. Important data and presentations are handed to CEO via digital signage.

Costs: Of all the technology products, AV technology is different. Every newest version of technology stuff comes with a high price tag but audio visual products do not live with that tradition. The benefits that AV technology offers to its users are more on cost saving. Any entrepreneur does not have to spend more money just to travel across the country or to other countries just to attend business meetings. Video conferencing has made it possible for a far cheaper cost. This is also true with digital signage; the collecting of all the company data to be personally handed over the receiver is not necessary anymore.

More points to be tackled on the next blog entries. In the mean time, try visiting TR Vidcom. The company has branches in US and New Zealand that offers customers with all kinds of audio visual solutions. As a reputed audio visual solution provider, TR Vidcom offers Flexible Purchase Options, Customised Solutions, and Service, Installation and Maintenance.

Fixing the Computer from Viruses

Computer virus repair has varying difficulty depending on the kind of virus. If your computer is invaded by the most recent version that cannot be fixed by the available antivirus you have in your computer, the process would get even nastier.

Some computer viruses would even make you pissed off to hell. These viruses can make ruin the Windows Startup running by keeping your computer rebooting all over and over again. If this is the case, then restart your computer but run it in Safe Mode. Safe Mode is a protected Windows mode that allows your computer to boot up without utilizing or loading your computer drives. If you can’t boot into Safe Mode, then a computer expert you can find in any computer hubs such as computer equipment rentals.

Running your computer in Safe Mode allows you to troubleshoot your computer. You can run antivirus software and have everything gets fixed such as files being infected with virus.

The best way of not getting viruses into your computer is to prevent any activity that is virus-prone such as downloading any software or any form of data from unreliable sites. Also, avoid clicking on attachment files from spam emails because they contain different versions of virus and worms that could damage your computer.

Windows XP Formatting

The usual way of fixing your computer from being damaged of virus is through formatting your hard drive, according staff I met in online PC rentals. Reformatting is the most proven effective way of getting rid of viruses and worms that have already crowded your computer and playing games with your software, making everything nonfunctional.

Memory reformatting is most likely the last option when your computer is damaged beyond the point of repair. Since computer damage is always possible to happen, it is recommended to have all your important saved in two or more backup memory such as flash drive (USB). Besides, this will keep your files safe when formatting your computer because the process will lose all of the data and other files stored.

Formatting completely cleans everything; it would leave not a single byte of your files stored before the process is done. Getting the files back with a reformatted hard drive is almost not possible. There may be chances if you hire a data recovery expert which is quite expensive. Providing backups for your files is the excellent way of saving not just your data and files, but also your pocket.

It is quite easy to format Window XP on a newer computer. All you need is just Windows disk and then, you are on your way of getting the formatting done.

Formatting your computer varies according to the brand of your computer. Sony, Compaq, and Dell have varying formatting procedures. That is why it is important that the manual of the computer you just bought must be kept in safety. Follow the instructions in the manual carefully and properly to avoid further damaging your computer.

How to Prevent Computer Shutdown Problems

Experiencing computer shutdown problems is really hurting. It is hurting that while on your way to finishing your email reply, your computer shuts down in all of a sudden. It is even more hurting if you are encoding the last sentence of your paper requirements for school or office, and then your computer monitor turns black without a warning.

They say that prevention is better than cure. With computer problems, this is also true. Here the ways of preventing your computer from experiencing shutdown problems.

(a) Hard Drive Defragment
(b) Windows Registry Cleaning
(c) Virus Scanning
(d) Deleting Unused Files

The above steps can be done at regular intervals; the frequency depends on how often you have enough time to perform them. The hard drive cleaner software such as Norton is proven good in cleaning your computer registry. This software also comes with antivirus, the infamous Norton Antivirus. However, there are also other excellent antivirus like BitFender AVG, Karspersky, and Webroot.

System Restore is the recommended remedy for shutdown problem when your PC is running with Windows XP operating system.

Another remedy for shutdown problem is running the System File Checker (SFC) command from your desktop Start Menu. Windows disk is required to complete the task. This command may help restore your computer in right condition by scanning and verifying all your Windows files.

Computer Problem: Automatic Shutting Down

When your computer experiences problems such as sudden shutting down while browsing or encoding something, it is more likely caused by virus or a few other factors.

Restart your computer and when you see that the Windows is running fine, try scanning your drives with antivirus software. If you cannot get into Windows then try restarting again and run in Safe Mode. You can run you computer in Safe Mode by pressing F8 right at the moment that it is starting up.

A computer being run in Safe Mode does not any driver so this can enable you to troubleshoot your computer hardware and software problems. With Safe Mode, you won’t be having major Windows issues.

According to computer experts, every Windows version has its own problems and causes of shutting down. For instance, Windows 98 automatically shuts down when the computer has memory problems and several badly written drivers.

Windows registry can also be a problem. This is a very common cause of shutdown problems with any Windows version. The registry has to be cleaned from unnecessary files. A computer with clean registry runs smoothly. Buying a registry cleaner that is available in any computer stores or computer rental products center.

Signs and Recovery of Hard Disk Failure

Hard disk drive is the most useful that despite of its unreliability (some times), is trusted with all important data that may be information about the company, or files such as project plans or school paper requirements.

I experienced hard drive failure before. I was just thankful that the computer was just rented from an online computer rental store; so the damage did not cost me a lot. According to one of the store staff’s advice, we should expect hard drive failure because even if the computer unit is bought from most reliable and famous brand, the problem happens unpredictably. So, it is better not to give your full trust to your computer hard drive.

Some of us think that when your computer is hanging up, restarting is the best cure. However, there are other possible causes of this occurrence. The reason may be the hard drive and that it needs recovery. Since some computer owners consider hard drive failure as something worst to happen, hard disk recovery is studied as a different concept.

Hard Drive Failure Symptoms: Corresponding error messages as pre-warning of hard drive failure may some times do not appear. There are other signs that you should know before everything gets black out. This is in case that there are no warnings of hard disk failure. If you are hearing clicking or scratching sounds, lower ratings of running performance, and unexpected behavior such as sudden popping out of browsers and other applications, these are already signs that you are experiencing hard drive failure.

Precautions: You need to unplug the system immediately if the hard drive is having unusual sounds while it is running. This minimizes the data loss stored in your hard drive and preserves the probability of hard drive recovery. Do-it-yourself repair is not recommended unless you are a computer expert by your own, such as those friendly people I met in online computer equipment rental store. Opening the hard drive would have it exposed to dust particles, encouraging further damaging. Dust particles create obstacles in the internals of hard disk during the recovery process. Computer experts advise that the hard drive should only be opened in clean rooms; the ones that are assured of total absence of dust particles.

Recovery of Hard Drive: Most of the time, the data being stored in the hard disk are really important. The computers used in the company are usually stored with data that are vital to its daily operation. The best option to have your data recovered from failed hard disk is to look for tested and reliable data recovery service provider. Choose only the one that is reputed as the hub of experts.

Computer Software Testing Steps

Like any technology product available in the market such as computers and cellular phones, testing is very necessary to measure the capacity and more importantly, to determine of the features of the product performs well. This is also the same with software development products; computer software testing is needed to know if everything is working excellently.

The process involved in Web and software development should be well-thought off. The structure is the process a little bit complicated being imposed on the computer software product development. The process is also called “software life cycle.”

There are several steps that must be undergone when software testing. Several models of software development process are available in this specific market; each model illustrates unique approaches to variety of testing activities.

Here are some of the models of computer software testing process.

Iterative Process: The construction of initially diminutive but ever larger portions of a software development process is called iterative software development. This helps the stakeholders involved in the project to reveal significant issues earlier before problems arise. Commercial software developers prefer this model because of provides easier way to meet the goals of the customers whose wants are yet unknown.

Agile Process: The process that is built on the bases of iterative development is called agile development. This process is user-centric and lighter than conventional approaches. One of its attributes is using constant feedback as the primary mechanism of process control. Unlike planning method, feedback method is performed through regular checks and releases of the software product.

to be continued: Steps in Computer Software Testing

Steps in Computer Software Testing

continuation...

Extreme Programming or XP: this is the most famous iterative process. The processes are performed by starting in small steps to the batch processes which is the older model of approach. The developer has to write automated tests. This is to provide concrete development objectives. What follows is the programming. There will be deployment of incomplete functional system for chosen users. At this point of activity, the practitioner would start on writing tests for each module again.

Waterfall Processes: There are seven steps to be followed in this kind of software development process: (a) software design, (b) customer requirements specification, (c) implementation, (d) integration, (e) testing and validation, (f) deployment, and (g) maintenance.

After the framing has been put up, software builders need not to change the foundation or base of a house. This is done when one of the steps mentioned earlier is finished.

Waterfall processes is the kind of software development testing that is performed only in high-risk projects. Since the process is done with utmost care, there will be no errors to happen such as inaccurate engineering activities (i.e. management and analysis of requirements).

Avoiding PC Problems with Registry Cleaner

PC users might, at some point of their life, have experienced PC problems. Crashing or freezing, slow PC speed, error messages, deadlock, blue screen and many others are some of the problems that occur to various computers.

Only if you are a person who knows a lot about PC technology such as those great computer experts in online computer rental companies, then the problems can be resolved right away. But since there are a lot of us who are using computers but only have little knowledge about PC technology, the only option you could think first is to look for computer repair shop to restore your computer system. This would cost you a lot and a lot time too will be used up. If problems with your computer will hit you again, would you do the same thing of going to a computer repair shop to fix the problem? That would be tiresome, time-consuming and costly, right? Your other option would be buying a new set of PC. That is the best option if you have enough money though.

According to computer experts, the problems are reduced if you use registry cleaner. This would help you save your computer, your time and money. The problems without earlier are commonly caused by window registry. Window registry is a database of information; the information is composed of computer configuration. Without this thing, your computer would not run at all. As time goes by, your computer would run slow because of considerable number of files saved in your hard disk. Software problems would arise due to poor computer speed and, as a result, you get everything messed up; and you would get error message on the black screen.

There are lots of online computer equipment rental companies that offer advices on the use of window registry cleaner. According to them, downloading a registry cleaner online is a big help. You can use the application for bring back the excellent performance of your computer and have it running smoothly again. When you have downloaded a registry cleaner, it is recommended that you should not modify the registry unless you are knowledgeable enough in this matter. Editing the registry without enough knowledge would have some of the files removed or have some programs become useless because they won’t run anymore.

You must ensure the registry cleaning software you have is acquired legally and from a reliable software hub. This is a necessary consideration in order also to be assured of desired results—that is profoundly cleaning your windows registry without causing even more problems. Some substandard registry cleaners can actually worsen your computer problems. Select registry cleaner that offers built-in service features such as auto backup and full backup. The purpose of this is to have option to restore when your computer is making mistakes on the process.

Commercial registry cleaner would cost an amount but the price is far cheap than when you have to hire a computer repairman and fix the computer for a big cost without even an assurance of getting your poor computer fixed.

Computer Technology and TV Technology: The Merging

Just recently, the crossover of attributes and capabilities between computers and televisions is becoming obvious. According to surveys that some audio visual rental providers recently conducted, most of the people dislike the idea of placing their personal computer in the living room. The usual reason is that messy wires that are entangled with each other are unsightly. That is why, even if the computer has the capability of receiving signals of various TV channels, they would still choose to have a TV.

In the early 1990s when satellite TV became economically sufficient for typical household, the digital TV was the only computer equipment being accepted as a replacement for TV in the living room.

DVD and VCD players are the much more obvious examples of the crossover between computer and TV technology. By the time that DVD players became popular, CD-ROM drives are already a part of the computers. CD-ROM drives and DVD players are both optical drives which load discs similarly.

Another example of blurring between these two technologies is the digital video recorder (DVR). This device can record video onto the computer and can be played back later, over and over again as long as the user wishes to play it. Most unit models have the capability of automatic recording; this enables the viewer to play back or pause the live TV. With DVR technology, the user or viewer can watch recorded programs in any order. The hard disk is designed in such a way that it would not store the video file sequentially unlike video tapes. This enables the easier and quicker access of video files.

to be continued here: The Merging of Technology (A Continuation)

The Merging of Technology (A Continuation)

As the years go by, the computer features are more improved. There are a number of capabilities that it can do just as what TV does. Special TV tuners are already available in the market which can be installed in a computer. This device enables the computer to be able to receive signal from various TV channels. TV shows are now viewable in computer screens. However, since TV channels also have websites in which live video streaming of shows are viewable via internet connection. Without the special TV tuners, internet connectivity enables the computer users to still watch TV shows with live video streaming. This is also the same proof of blurring of technologies with laptops that are also capable of playing DVDs. Aside from being capable of playing DVDs; there are also available special adapters for laptop computers. These special adapters contains TV tuner which can be connected via USB port.

If there is a product of technology that we can tag as the most obvious hybrid of computer and TV technology, that is the media center computer. This technologically advanced equipment has all the capabilities of DVR, DVD players, digital receivers, and internet browsing.

Nothing is more convenient than to have a machine that has a capability of all technology products available in the market. To have all-in-one equipment is such a great achievement. The release of this product poses for greater challenges among the producers of technologically advanced products.

TR Vidcom
, the renowned computer rental provider in Australia, offers products such as those mentioned in this write up (DVR, DVD, media center computer and etc.)

Useful Tools in Cleaning a Computer (Part 1)

Cleaning the computer equipment is one of the necessary routine that a computer unit owner should do. Dusts and microscopic insects that might have trapped in any corner of your computer hardware can cause problems in the working performance of the computer. That is why it is recommended that cleaning should be done every day. Dusts may seem to be harmless but once they get accumulated in some parts of your computer, you will be having problems. For instance, if your keyboard which is the most often used hardware of the computer is not cleaned for quite some time, there are chances that some keys would not work anymore. Other cases such as mouse being filled with dust inside, the mouse ball won't work smoothly.

Several companies are creating products to help ease the cleaning. But these products are actually not "must-haves" in order to clean your computer easily. You can use some household items to clean your computer, the computer parts such as monitor, keyboard, mouse, and other "cleanable" parts.

Here are some useful tools in cleaning your computer.

(a) Cloth: This is the most common and the best tool in rubbing down your computer hardware. But paper towels are often used because they prevent scratches on the surface of the computer hardware such as monitors and others.

(b) Water or Rubbing Alcohol: Water or rubbing alcohol is necessary to moisten the cloth. This way, you are assured of dust-free cleaning result.

(c) Portable Vacuum: Vacuum is also a best cleaning tool, another best alternative of cleaning the computer equipment from dusts, dirt, cigarette particles and others. However, there is a risk of circuit corrosion because of the airflow in a computer

(d) Cotton Swabs: Cotton swabs are also excellent cleaning tool in removing hard to reach areas such as the corners of every key in your keyboard.

(e) Foam Swabs: It is advisable to use lint-free swabs such as this cleaning tool.

Boosting Wireless Signal Strength

Wireless technology is quickly gaining acceptance and fame worldwide because of the comfort it gives. Getting connected to the internet is made easier with wireless internet that can be available even in cellular phones. This capability is also made available in various wi-fi ready laptop models than can be acquired in any online computer rental service provider.

Since this technology product is has already become a need in fulfilling the daily activities of people of various sectors of professions such as business, academe, sports, medicine, and others. That is why, it is important that instant access be facilitated and the internet network performance be enhanced through strong signal strength.

According to business experts, strong signal strength for your computer gives lots of benefits such as assurance of greater and timely communication between two online parties. Since business activities are the ones that require constant communication between the client and the ser vice or product provider, faster and reliable internet connectivity is vital.

There are two indications of weak signal; one is slow connectivity that is not in sync with the actual design performance, and the other is habitual loss of connectivity. These indicators can be remedied by increasing the wireless signal strength. Companies that are offering technology products also offer services in giving tips to their clients on how to make the best out of the product they have. This is also true among online computer equipment rental companies.

Here are some points to put in mind to make your wireless connectivity be boosted.

Identification and Access the Central Access Point

Identifying the location for the wireless router is important. The router being fitted against any external surface weakens signal transmission. Thus, it is advisable to use big flat office or home space as a place for setting up the router. With this kind of space, there will be efficient and equal distribution of signal radiation.

Router Placement Selection

Placing the router in the area with lots of metal objects or any metal furniture item such as file cabinets and metallic tables can hamper the flow of signal radiation. This results to weak and interrupted signal.

Antenna Check

Internal and external obstructions are the common reasons of wasted signals because most antennas are omni-directional. It is recommended to use hi-gain antenna for a hi-gain wireless signals. Signals are transmitted and accessed in single direction only. This way, you have the option which location would you rather focus the signal strength for optimum wireless performance.

Adapter Check

The absence of good adapter, the router can only be able to transmit strong signal but your computer may not be able to re-transmit equal strength of signals. Using card-based adapter and USB network adapter is the best option to remedy the problem of weak signals if you have identified that the problem is in the adapter.

Repeater

Repeaters are the ones that extend the network range of internet connectivity. Experts say that the best placement of the repeaters should be between the point of access and the machine. Repeaters are the signal booster of wireless signals.

Clearer Channel Selection

Routers transmit signals in varying signal clarity through channels. Re-configuring your router channel is needed if you are experiencing problems of interrupting internet connectivity of your computer.

Blog Marketing for Your Audio Visual Rental Business

Blog marketing is very important in optimizing your audio visual equipment rental business site. Let me present to you only three most important factors in blog marketing.

Keywords: When writing your blog posts, make sure that you use your industry keywords and phrases. It is the keywords that would find your post and put it in search results pages. Blog posts are the once that is automatically and more frequently crawled by search engines such as Google. That is why after publishing your write up, it would appear in few minutes in the Blog Search Engine of Google.

Custom URLs: Some blogging platforms offer URL customization feature. WordPress for instance, you can edit the automatically generated URL (which contains that title) of your blog entry. Since search engine spiders prefer to crawl in short and concise URLs, it is recommended that you have to edit the URL if your title is too long. Make it clean simple but do not forget to have keywords in it. Better chance of getting higher ranking in the search results can be achieved with this technique.

Enough Content: Enough content means not too long or not too short blog write up. Although search engines like crawling on meaty content because it feeds on words, you have to compromise the links for the sake of the online readers. Usually 200-300-word write up is enough.

Boosting Your Online Computer Rental Business through Article Writing

Boosting online businesses such as that which venture on rentals like AV equipment leasing or audio visual equipment rental services is the same with optimizing other kinds of business endeavor that operates online.

Article writing and submission is one among the important strategies in boosting the business. How does article help in boosting your audio visual rental business? It is simply by making your site popular through search engines. Higher ranking in search engine results page is enough in order to attract potential customers.

The online articles that are published via electronic magazine publishers can some times do not help in generating inbound links for your site. This the reason why article writing is not incorporated as one of the link building strategies because it cannot help in building links. What published online articles can do is to help you generate traffic for your site. More traffic means more online business popularity, and more online popularity means more chances of business sales.

Writing an article with unique content and with keywords in it is the right way of boosting your site. Even if the keywords for your site are not hyperlinked, search engine crawlers can still read them and would find that your site is relevant in certain search category. In this case in which you are writing an article about audio visual services or online computer rental services, you are relevant in rental companies or rental services search categories.

How to Cope with Data Loss of Your Computer

Losing the data stored in your computer hard drive is really painful. Such reality that there are some things that happen without warning is inevitable. The emotional and psychological havoc that the victim like can experience is even the harder reality you will be facing if in case data loss happens to your computer. You don’t even know what to do or how to do which. Well, due to the disaster that happens like this, it is normal that no one can think of audio visual services centers as the solution.

What if data loss happens in the computer unit that contains all the important and sensitive data about the company such as sales report and other related forms of information? Of course, IT managers and the owner of the business would panic and feel desperation because of the thought that the whole company might be at risk of disorganization. The contracts and several other papers in software copy, if lost would create chaos in the operation of the company. According to research, human errors and mechanical failure are the two largest contributing factors that result to data loss of the computer hard drive. Human errors may be prevented as well as the mechanical failure (caused by computer viruses, software corruption and physical disasters) if utmost care is always applied and that there’s always readiness at all times.

It’s hard to accept that man-made technology like disk drives are reliable while humans are not. The usual reasons are failure to implement the most important rules such as creating backups. Securing the backups is an act of readiness that would help make safe all the company records and data in general.

According to a technology expert that human intervention itself can sometimes the cause of the downfall of technology. So, it is advisable that we have to ensure everything; the computer where the sensitive data are contained as well as the backups must be in well condition.

Data Loss: How to Cope with This Situation

...continued here...

There are some instances that we are so confident with our backup routine. This happens because instead of making the faith in technology a virtue, we tend to make our faith as a vice. As a result, we tend to leave all things up to the computer or technology as a whole.

When disasters such as data loss happen, a normal reaction is that we panic. Panicking should not be an option because it would do nothing nor will it resolve the problem. The best thing to do is hire data recovery specialists. Data recovery specialists are molded by countless experience and wealth of knowledge that are gained for considerable length of time. They are equipped with comprehensive tool kit of resolutions to computer problems.

Just like in any accident where first aid is applied, in data loss there are also ways in which the users themselves can minimize the further worsening of data loss.

To generally prevent data loss, the company must be able to review the basic business technology plan. Backup routines must be revised in such a way that there will be more secured ways. One may assign specific roles in configuring and updating anything that concerns the data centers of the company.

You can actually hire computer experts that are also knowledgeable in data loss recovery through TR Vidcom. Computer Troubleshooting Tips (Part 1)

Nothing is really infuriating when shit happens. Shits such as having a computer with a monitor that does not show anything even when the CPU is running or a CPU that suddenly does not work are really frustrating and hurting. Aside from the internet and Google, thanks to online computer rental companies, they offer free assistance so anyone who avail their computer and other audio visual services can now access on information about troubleshooting the computer. Here are few tips that are worth keeping because they are proven to be effective and they really work in any case.

If you press the button and nothing appears on your desktop, you have to check the cable wire if it is properly attached such as the power cable. Secure if the socket is properly plugged to the power source or check the cable that connects your CPU and desktop monitor (video cable). The cable that connects to everything must be tightly attached.

Make sure that the keyboard is properly connected to the computer if you are starting from a button on your keyboard. Also, see if the surge protector has a reset switch. If you cannot see any reset switch, you are advised to replace your surge protector. Surge protectors without reset switch are easily prone to damage.

There are some cases in which the CPU is working but still the desktop screen shows nothing. You have to check if the desktop screen is connected to a power source that works well.

If the both monitor and CPU are working but you are seeing a text on the monitor that says “Non-system disk or disk error,” you might have probably left an external drive such as diskette, CD, VCD or DVD. Remove or eject the external drive and restart your computer.

IF you have secured everything from cable to power source, but still nothing shows on the monitor but an error message display, this is the time that you will have to restart your computer all over again and again. Computer Care Tips (Part 1)

It is not only computer sales and distributor companies that are giving computer care tips. Also, the computer rental provider hubs are publishing articles about the right way of taking care of the computer and its peripherals. Here are some points to practice in lengthening the life of your computer.

Taking care of a computer is just like taking care of your other valuable things. There are some things that should be done which to me are more of a ritual. The cleaning routine must be taken seriously; just like performing a ritualistic act to keep things work out fine.

Just like human beings, computers need enough air. Enough air circulation to keep them cool is necessary. Overheating would cause malfunctioning. The heat, if too much, could melt some semiconductor parts of the computer in the hard drive and may cause the computer to work inefficiently. The longer that you are using your PC, the higher voltage of electricity it consumes to enable faster running of its tasks requested by its user. You must avoid placing the computer in a very cramped place because of poor air circulation. However, big holes on the computer case such as the hard drive casings are also bad for the computer.

It is advisable that you should not plug other electronic devices while the computer is running. You must turn it off before plugging in another computer devices, especially is the devices you are plugging in uses relatively higher voltage of electricity. Of all devices, only USB devices are safe to plug in and out of the computer even when the computer is on because they are hot-swappable.

Computer Care Tips (Part 2)

If the computer is under warranty, you should not throw its original packages, or else the warranty will be invalidated once you need it. Keep anything that you bought along with the computer such as diskettes, CD-ROMs, program installers, manuals and others in a place where there is an absence of moisture. A dry cabinet with a padlock is the safest place to keep important things such as those recently mentioned.

The computer as well as other hardware attached to it such as printer should be turned off only by the power button. In case of the computer, it should be turned off by the power button on the CPU if not by clicking the Shut Down command in the Start Menu. The printer, on the other hand, should be turned off by pressing the power button on the printer case. You should never attempt turning off everything all at once through a surge protector where the computer and the printer are plugged into.

How To Replace The Keyboard In Your Laptop

One of the components of your laptop that is prone to damage is the keyboard. It is very easy to break these delicate parts especially when its innards are the tiniest. Replacing the keyboard is a crucial process. You can go to any computer retail provider to purchase replacement keyboards. Most manufacturers include a manual on how to do this. You may want to get an experienced PC technical support to do the process for you but you can also do it following these steps.

To remove the keyboard:

1. Turn your laptop completely off. Remove the battery and all the other components connected to it.

2. Turn your laptop bottom part up and remove all the screws. Some laptops have indicators as to where the screws are but if not, you just have to find each of them. Be sure to use the proper screw drivers: Philips Screw or in some models, T-8.

3. Turn over your laptop again to proper position, top part up and open it. Check to see if the keyboard is locked under plastic pieces. If so, unscrew each plastic piece and unfasten them as well. If there are no screws, then there might be a clamp which can easily be removed.

4. Remove the plastic pieces or whatever it is on the way one by one with a small pick or plastic pick and make sure you keep them all in one place.

5. If there are screws, unscrew the keyboard one by one from top to bottom. You’ll notice that the keyboard is connected with a thin, but wide, data cable to the system board at the bottom.

6. Use the pick again to remove the plastic connectors that hold this data cable in place.

7. Slowly remove the data cable and the keyboard should be free by now.

To replace the keyboard:

1. Connect the data cable of your new keyboard to the system board of your laptop. Make sure that the data cable is slipped in between the plastic connectors and is connected all the way through.
2. Put the plastic connectors back in place by using the pick again. Make sure that the data cable is secured within.

3. Put the new keyboard in place. This time from bottom to top. Make sure all screw slots and clamps line at the top.

4. Reattach the clamps and/or screws at the top.

5. If there were plastic pieces you had to unclamp or unscrew, make sure you put them all back in order.

6. Turn the laptop over again, bottom part up, and put back all keyboard screws.

7. Put the battery back in and turn your laptop on. If all went well, the keyboard should be working fine.
