The Importance of Using Hotkeys in Computing

Here's the thing, you got yourself a brand new desktop from a reliable computer sales provider. It is only natural that you are super excited to test your new gadget. You can't wait to finish the list of tasks you've wanted to do with a brand new computer. Since the package computer doesn't involve providing a new mouse, you content yourself by using your old one. Now here's the twist you find out that your computer can't detect your old mouse. You can't believe the bad luck you're in. You are expected to finish the list of tasks by tomorrow. It all involves word processing. You think of two options: first is to go out and buy yourself a new mouse that is compatible with your new computer, and the second one, is to contact your pc technical support or computer solutions provider to help you with your situation. Both options would take a lot of your time making it impossible for you to work on your tasks on time. Then you realized that you have seen an article in the past that tackles of the basic hotkeys that all computer users should be aware of. Below are some basic hotkeys in windows operating system that you will find useful especially when times get rough.

1) Ctrl+Alt+Del, All computer users should have the knowledge of this command. This is really helpful when an application of your computer has freeze out. Using this command, you could easily access the Task Manager to closed unresponsive programs. Aside from this, you will also be able to see the performance of your CPU usage.

2) Alt+Tab, When working on a project that involves a lot of opened windows, you could use this command to easily switch from one application to another.

3) Ctrl-Z, This is very useful when you accidentally deleted items in your task. You could simply undo this and restore the deleted objects in the application.

4) Ctrl-C, This is a hotkey used for copying specific items such as words, objects, documents, folders and applications from a specific source to you’re preferred destination, without having to delete it from its source.

5) Ctrl-A, A hotkey used for selecting all items such as words, objects, documents, folders and applications from a specific source to you’re preferred destination.

6) Ctrl-X, This is a hotkey used for dragging specific items such as words, objects, documents, folders and applications from a specific source to you’re preferred destination. Remember that once you drag the selected items, these files will be deleted from the source.

7) Ctrl-N, Whether running a browser or applications such as Word, notepad or paint, this command functions the same thing. It instructs to produce a new window for a browser and a new document or project for Word, notepad and paint.

8) Alt+F4, This command would automatically close the application you are running on.
