Tips to Make Your Computer Load Faster

You have your computer for quite some time now, and it does not run as fast as it used to. Chances are, your CPU’s memory is full or you have lots of installed software and applications now. Here are some tips on how to tweak your computer for it to load faster. Do these and you may save yourself from asking help from your pc technical support or a computer solutions provider.

· Free some memory. Clean your hard drive disk space taken up by temporary files, internet browser, recycle bin, etc. There may be some documents or files stored in your computer that you don’t use often. Back them up in an external memory drive or copy them into cd’s.

· Update your drivers. Search for driver updates online and install them to replace older versions of the drivers your computer needs. Old hardware drivers may become inefficient for your computer.

· Scan for spyware, malware, and viruses. Get a reliable anti-virus and make sure to update it. Scan your computer regularly. Sometimes, a sudden decrease in the performance of your computer may be caused by a virus or spyware. A spyware detector, especially for external drives, is also a good support for your anti-virus.

· Defragment your computer’s hard disk. Windows operating system has a defrag option and lets you do this task.

· Disable unwanted start up applications. To do this, go Start > Run, type msconfig and press enter to bring up the System Configuration Utility. Go to the start-up tab, and you will see all the programs that load when you start-up your computer. Do not disable any processes that you don’t understand. Uncheck those that you don’t need at start-up such as CD-burning software, instant messengers, or a P2P client. They will stop booting the next time you restart your computer.

· Uninstall the software that you don’t use. Sometimes we are overwhelmed with the software applications and what they offer, that we tend to install them even if we do not need them.

· Delete unused fonts. We may get excited at the gazillions of available fonts that we find cute and usable but don’t actually use. Windows fonts such as webdings may be removed to speed up loading time.

· Don’t make desktop shortcuts for applications you don’t use regularly. You may launch these other application from the start up menu, anyway.

Think that your computer, although that it is a machine, may also have a hard time performing numerous tasks at the same time. Generally, do not load up you computer with the things that you do not need. Keep in mind the processing capability of your computer and work within those means. Should you need additional processing power, you always have the option to upgrade your RAM and add memory space.
