The monitors are around 17 to 19 inches and weigh about 7 pounds. The models in this category contain top-of-the-line components that are far better at handling video editing and gaming than the other types of laptops. Since they are packed with powerful components, the desktop replacements do not have a long battery life. They last around 2 hours on batteries.
There are several operating systems you may think about too. Mac OS X (or Leopard) is the most advanced operating system but only runs on Apple computer products which are a bit more expensive. This operating system is most secure but not all applications may run on the Mac OS X. Windows is the standard operating system but is very prone to virus attacks. Linux is less popular but is quick and very customizable. However, not everyone can be at ease with using Linux, since it has a different user interface than Windows.
Determine what other devices you will be working with. A good number of available ports will be very useful.
